Directions for Use
Get clean! If your under-arms are freshly washed and odor-free, applying NPN deodorant will keep you smelling sweet for quite awhile. It will not remove odor that is already present, so right after showering and drying off is the best time to apply. Twist up the product no more than 1/8". Apply using light to medium pressure while guiding the stick over your underarms. The heat from your skin will allow the surface of the product to melt and glide onto your skin. 1-2 layers is all you need. Wait at least 30 minutes before applying deodorant to freshly shaved skin. Avoid sunbathing underarms while wearing and for half a day after. Store in a cool, dark, dry place. Do not use on irritated skin.
How it works
NPN deodorant inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria. Coconut and essential oils possess natural antimicrobial properties, while baking soda raises the pH, further impairing bacterial growth. Arrowroot powder helps to keep the skin drier, while mango butter softens the skin. Vitamin E acts as a natural preservative.
Switching from antiperspirants
Commercial antiperspirant use can leave behind a build-up of chemicals and dead skin. Before applying NPN deodorant for the first time, you may need to use an exfoliating scrub or shower brush to unclog your pores. It may take a week or so for your body to sweat out the chemical residues, and your body odor may be slightly stronger during this adjustment period. People have different body chemistry. You may find that one combination of essential oils works better than another.
One application lasts approximately 12 hours, depending on activity level and body chemistry. Shelf life is approximately 1 year. Light, heat, and moisture will lessen effectiveness, as there are no chemical preservatives. It will melt if left in a hot car, on the beach, or in the sun. It may be salvageable if stirred and put it in the freezer to re-solidify, but the texture may be altered.
What makes NPN Deodorant special?
Every ingredient is of the highest quality possible and has a vital reason for being included. There are no fillers. Price was not a factor in the selection of essential oils and other ingredients. After a great deal of searching, sampling and testing, NPN deodorant essential oils were chosen because they were the most effective at keeping odor at bay, in addition to being as pleasant-smelling as possible. Extensive research and development has gone into making sure NPN deodorant is simply the most effective and healthiest deodorant available anywhere.
There is no wax in NPN deodorant. Beeswax, candelilla and carnauba wax are some of the waxes frequently used in deodorants to give it a firmer texture. Since wax is not absorbed by skin, it gets left on the surface as a sticky layer that is difficult to remove, especially if present in higher concentration. Wax is not breathable, and there is a chance that it can clog pores, causing breakouts.
NPN deodorant is gentle. It has a small amount of baking soda, which raises the pH in the underarm, making it less ideal for bacterial growth. Many coconut-based deodorants have too much baking soda, which can eventually cause burning and itching due to caustic burns. The amount in NPN deodorant is enough to make an impact, but unlikely to cause irritation.
Seasonal changes in essential oils
NPN deodorant scents may vary from time to time, even if produced from the same kind of plants, from the same region. This is due to seasonal variation in the composition of essential oils.
Sunbathing in conjunction with use of NPN Naturals deodorant is not recommended. Certain essential oils can cause a condition known as phototoxicity. This can occur when these essential oils are applied at a high enough concentration to the skin, then exposed to the sun, resulting in sunburn and/or hyperpigmentation. The concentrations of essential oils in NPN deodorant are well under recommended maximum use levels to avoid phototoxic reactions by the International Fragrance Association, but as a precautionary measure, avoid sunbathing underarms half a day prior to and while using NPN deodorant.
